Data Ingest: Binary Delivery
High Resolution Data Service
The following lists the model output types and when they generally become available on the HDS circuit:
- NAM MODEL PRODUCT SET: The NAM model data for North America is broadcast between 0210 and 0320 for the 00 GMT run and between 1410 and 1520 GMT for the 12 GMT run. The ETA run contains forecast information out to 48 hours including the initialized fields on a lambert conformal grid with a resolution of around 80 km. The vertical resolution is every 50 mb from 1000 to 100 mb. The variables broadcast include geopotential height, temperature, relative humidity, U and V wind components and vertical velocity. Other variables include sea level pressure, lifted index and quantitative precipitation. This totals approximately 1500 gridded fields.
- GLOBAL FORECAST SET (GFS): The AVN global model data is broadcast between 0420 and 0930 for the 00 GMT run and between 1620 and 2130 GMT for the 12 GMT run. The AVN run contains forecast information out to 72 hours including the initialized fields on a 1.25 longitude by 1.25 latitude grid. The vertical resolution is on mandatory levels from 1000 to 100 mb. The variables broadcast on mandatory levels include geopotential height, temperature, relative humidity, U and V wind components and vertical velocity. Other variables include sea level pressure, tropopause and maximum wind level information. The global data are divided up into 8 separate grids each covering one eighth of the globe. This totals approximately 850 grids per sector or 6800 grids to cover the entire globe.
- NMC OCEANOGRAPHIC PRODUCT SET (Sea Surface Temperature Analysis): The sea surface temperature analysis is broadcast between 2130 and 2230 for the 12 GMT run. The temperature grids are provided on both 5 longitude by 5 latitude and 2 longitude by 2 latitude grids. The global temperature data are divided up into 4 separate grids for each grid resolution. This totals approximately 8 gridded fields.
- NMC OCEANOGRAPHIC PRODUCT SET (Significant Wind Wave Model): The SWW model is broadcast between 0930 and 1030 for the 00 GMT run and 2130 and 2230 for the 12 GMT run. These grids contain forecast information out to 72 hours on a 5 longitude by 5 latitude grid. The global data are divided up into 4 separate grids. This totals approximately 60 gridded fields.
- ECMWF EXTENDED RANGE PRODUCT SET (ECMWF Forecast Model): The ECMWF model data is broadcast between 2200 and 0200 for the 12 GMT run. No data for the 00 GMT run is broadcast. The ECMWF run contains forecast information out to 6 days including the initialized fields and is broadcast in two formats GRIB and GRID providing a degree of overlap. The GRIB data are on a 2.5 longitude by 2.5 latitude grid. The GRID data are on a 5 longitude by 5 latitude grid. The variables broadcast are the 500 mb geopotential height, 850 mb temperature, sea level pressure and 200 and 850 mb U and V wind components. The global data is divided up into 12 separate overlapping grids covering various parts of the northern and southern hemisphere. This totals approximately 250 gridded fields.
