Testing WXP
To test that WXP is working properly, run the following programs from a shell prompt:
> nameconv -if=sfc_dat -cu=la -me=print
/mnt/data/noaaport/data/sao/20261019/20261019_01_sao.wmo
If the output is a correct filename with the word "exist" after it, then WXP can find the raw data.
This should be repeated for the following:
> nameconv -if=sfc_cvt -cu=la -me=print
/mnt/data/wxp/convert/sao/20261019/20261019_07_sao.wxp
> nameconv -if=grib_nam_us12 -cu=la -me=print
/mnt/data/noaaport/model/nam/20261019/20261019_00_nam_us12.grb
> nameconv -if=for_txt -cu=la -me=print
/mnt/data/noaaport/text/for/20261019/20261019_07_for.wmo
> nameconv -if=sat_ir_g19 -cu=la -me=print
/mnt/data/noaaport/sat/g19/20261019/20261019_0721_g19_us_ir.nc
These will check for converted surface data, NAM model GRIB file, textual forecast data and a GOES 19 IR image.
To test graphical output, run:
> sfcplot -cu=la -pd=us -va=all
Plotting for time: 07Z 19 OCT 2026
If a surface plot comes up on the screen, then WXP is working. Hit return in the WXP window to close it out.
If these tests pass, WXP is ready to run.
